Hollywood

Hollywood- do your cover girls get lonely Hollywood
Where the men in long black cars that smell like money
Are sweeping you away, Hollywood

Where there is so much beauty Hollywood
That runs as deep as the sugar coating
On the lies that make us wish we could be there
Hollywood

Are you just pictures on a silver screen I cannot see beneath the sheen
Though your glittering light is just inches from my hand
You're right here in my living room, electric starlight fills the gloom
But I cannot ever touch you in your glass-enclosed imaginary land

Marilyn we thought we really loved you Marilyn
You were not the only one to take your life
Was it lonely in that world that seemed so lovely from afar
Hollywood

You are such a magnet for our restless sons and daughters
Who find only troubled waters beneath the mirrored lake
You are only a reflection we hunger for your heroes
We're in love with the perfection of your world let's cut the cake

Hollywood- is it really done with mirrors Hollywood
Are you there because we need you do you care whose soul we feed you
Is it fair the way we bleed you Hollywood

Hollywood- do your cover girls get lonely Hollywood
Where the men in long black cars that smell like money
Are sweeping you away, are you weeping Hollywood
