Harvey Reid News Briefs
- I was included on a CD called Acoustic Edge: Acoustic Music of
the 90's on Rhino Records,
released in June. They used Vigilante Man (from Overview) along with songs
by David Wilcox, Leo Kottke, Ferron, Richard Thompson, Suzanne Vega, Bruce
Cockburn, Jerry Douglas, Peter Rowan, John Hammond, and David Grisman &
JERRY GARCIA plus many others. Nice to be included. I was one of 2 small-label
people on it.
- A live and quite rowdy version of Vigilante Man from the Rocky Mountain
Folks Festival was also released in June on a CD called Folks Live on Blue
Planet Records of Lyons, CO. (Telluride Bluegrass Festival) The CD also
includes Patty Larkin, Ani DiFranco, John Gorka, Norman Blake, The Story,
Janis Ian, Robert Earl Keen, David Wilcox + many others.
- Guitar Player Magazine published a special How To Play Guitar:ACOUSTIC
guide, which included my album Solo Guitar Sketchbook in the list of top
20 all-time best acoustic guitar albums, along with records by Doc Watson,
Leo Kottke, John Renbourn, John McLaughlin, Tony Rice, (plus many others!)
Yowza!
- My song Dreamer or Believer was recorded last year by a wonderful progressive
bluegrass band called Chesapeake. On Sugar Hill Records, it's a great album,
and the all-star band includes Moondi Klein, Mike Auldridge, T Michael Coleman,
and Jimmy Gaudreau. Rumor is they're working up another of my songs for
the new album.
- I forgot to tell you last year that folk legend Bill Staines recorded
my song Show Me the Road on his album Going to the West. I am honored, since
Bill is one of the great songwriters of folk music. I am now recording one
of his songs, by the way.
My last album Chestnuts, got more good reviews than any previous
one. See inside for a sample. And Audio-Technica gave a copy of it to each
attendee of an international recording convention in New York as an example
of excellence in recording .
